Welcome

By the blue sea…

Back in the 50s’, they say, Ernest Hemingway was more than once in Acciaroli, the sea-side village just off San Mauro Cilento. Older people in the village recount of an old fisherman they called "u vecchio", “the old man”, with whom the American writer would have long daily talks and from whom he probably took inspiration for his The Old Man and The Sea.

among the green olive-groves…

The eye gazes over the silvery leaves of the different varieties of olive trees growing in this blessed land, rich with its history dating back to Magna Graecia, to Greeks and Romans. In San Mauro Cilento they make one of the best Italian olive oils, so much appreciated both inland and abroad, all over Europe and even in Japan.

...  in the multicoloured Mediterranean nature.

In this beautiful coastal area in the National Park of Cilento and Vallo di Diano, enclosed by the shores of Tyrrhenian sea and the peaks of  Monte Stella, many a variety of shrubs – such as myrtle, mastic and strawberry trees – and fruit-trees grow. An untouched natural environment inhabited, in summer and especially in winter, by a plentiful local fauna: blackbirds, mocking-birds, robins and blackcaps nest among the bushes, while foxes, weasels, martens and other small rodents and mammals are easy to be seen in the woods and in the open as well.
